Mr. Fluff

If you have read this blog since the beginning you will know that we have adopted a cat here in Ankara, Fluffy.  He was apparently a pet cat who was lost or abandoned.  Through the wonderful organization, Bilcat, we found out about Fluffy and took him in.  Our intention was to find a good home for him before we returned to Auburn.  However, this proved not possible and Delta/KLM agreed to take him as a passenger (for a $200 fee) and we have decided to bring Fluffy, or Mr. Fluff as he is now known, back as our best and most tangible remembrance of our time in Turkey.

Mr. Fluff is playful and loves people.  His favorite spot is sitting half on the couch back and half on the window sill to view the birds and other live things outside our living room window which faces on the pine woods.  He also loves playing with balls of all sorts and grabbing people's legs or arms in a friendly manner.

He is a big purrer and seems to be other cat friendly as evidenced by his delight to sometimes have a playmate in Miss Chousette, our friend Christina Hamer's cat.   I hope many of you will be meeting Mr. Fluff in person once he gets settled into our home in Auburn.  He will be joining quite a family of sibling cats - four brothers (Whitey, Tom Tom, Roger and Rafa) and one sister (Miss Basil).  A family of six cats - maybe that is enough for a while...

Tore Fougner (on right) is the leader of Bilcat.  He devotes himself tirelessly with so much joyful passion to the welfare of the cats around Bilkent University (and also sometimes to the dogs, frogs and other creatures).  We termed Tore "The Cat Whisperer" for his uncanny ways with cats.  They love him and it obvious that Tore and cats commune in a deep and meaningful way.  Thank you Tore, and thank you Bilcat for your efforts on behalf of cats, and for bringing us our new family member, Mr. Fluff

Mr. Fluff as we first got him with his winter coat

His favorite place - the couch
His other favorite place - the living room window.  Fluff had a tail injury when we got him which necessitated shaving part of tail.  It took a very long time to grow out

Contorted sleeping
He enjoys our living room rug and plays with it in many ways and also relaxes on it as in this picture

Uncle Mehmet plays with Miss Chausette and Fluff
Miss Chausette was not keen but Fluff is always up for a little action

Fluff's scratching pad was actually used by him as a plaything while he scratched on the furniture - it is lucky that the lojman furnishings are almost indestructible

Miss Chausette - Christina's cat - who visited us for a week two times while Christina was traveling

Miss Chausette took a while to feel at home
Fluff watches Miss Chausette devour the wet food, which she loves
Mr. Fluff enjoys the fresh air of the open kitchen door to the balcony

A lazy boy

Like father, like son (this is actually a very typical scene in our lojman living room)
