Special Post - Spread the Word on Social Media

Blog Readers, this blog is not political but it is by and for people who love Turkey.  Right now large scale civil disobedience is occurring throughout the country.  This started in Taksim Square, the heart of modern Istanbul, where residents protested the plan to turn the last bit of green space (a small park) into a mosque and shopping area.  After the government met this peaceful and environmentally oriented protest with repression and violence, the movement has grown into full scale civil disobedience.

Many Turkish people have seen their government become increasingly bold in violating human rights, suppressing the free press,  and enacting laws and rules restricting people's lifestyle choices.  The government calls these people "marginal" - they are not marginal, they are the people of Turkey who appreciate the tenets of free will and a democratic society and do not want to lose the progress of the last 90 years since the founding of the Turkish Republic.

Please use your own social media outlets to let the world know what is happening in Turkey!  The government has suppressed the press here and the best way to get the true word out is through people like us.  Turkey is a wonderful and amazing place - it would be a terrible thing if it continues on its path towards an Islamic dictatorship.
